Aged Care Homes

Are you ready to look at Nursing Homes and wondering which one is the best for your loved family member? What about the conditions of the Aged Care Homes? Each Nursing Home is different from one to the next, there is no way of knowing what is really going on behind closed doors!

Aged Care Homes

Behind closed doors you would never know what is going on in the Aged Care Home. Nursing Homes are run by laws and regulations but at the end of the day there is only so much that can be monitored. If you are not aware of the regulations, and not sure how the nurses are behaving then how will you know what Aged Care Homes are going to be safe for your family member? As an aged care Nurse I have seen first hand what goes on behind closed doors!

Aged Care Nursing Homes

Nursing homesNursing Homes are supposed to look after our loved ones, are most important members of society. But there are so many cut backs with staff numbers, a lack of quality care and a lack of training that most Aged Care Homes are not suitable to look after one patient let alone run a Nursing Home. If you only saw what us Aged Care Nurses saw – you would be stunned. There is some Aged Care Homes that should be shut down for good. Not only are they unsafe, they are very dangerous for the well being of the Resident that are placed in their care.

Behind Closed Doors

Every Nursing Home has to meet a certain standards to be able to call themselves an Aged Care Home and have approval to take on new residents. Yet many are flying in under the radar, and are not playing it safe.  I have seen so many relaxed Aged Care Nurses mistreat residents, and yet if I said anything then what would have become of my working conditions? I have spoken out a few times, and suffered the behaviour of those around me. Then again I am glad that I did speak out as those Aged Care Homes should not be able to treat residents in that manner.

The Management Team From The Top

Its the Management Team from the top that was the cause of the relaxed staff members. The Nursing Director attitude stated that the Residents were a pain, and if they could run the Nursing Home without having to deal with the Aged Care people then they would be happy. Once I heard how rude the Nursing Director was towards the residents, it made sense why all of the Aged Care Nurses showed a lack of care. It was a flow on affect, and one that I was not going to be a part of. My heart broke for those Aged Care People that had to live at that Aged Care Nursing Home.

The fish stinks from the head down.

This is a saying first heard when Coles Myer CEO was using company funds to finance home renovations back in late 70`s early 80`s.
Thankfully the aged have some people who care. We all forget residents in aged care facilities pass on and guess who will fill their shoes baring premature death…

    Keep up the thoughtful work..

As an aged care Nurse I think that the nurses forget that one day they will be in an aged care nursing home, and someone has to care for them. What happens if they get the same treatment? What goes around comes around.

Great saying about the fish stinks from the head down.

hi there! i’ve used that saying myself recently, “a fish rots from the head down”. I had to take mum out of a home due to the terrible attitude of the management and committee. with threats of loss of tenure and being shouted at in the street. I complained bitterely and there reaction was defensive and immature…it’s like i called their baby ugly.
